On top of Mt Davidson: (l-r) Geoffrey and Dr Robert Lampard, Tom Jeenan, Mike Morgan, July 2005
“
Although Dr Robert Lampard can claim first ascent of the 9,568 foot Mount Davidson in the Rockies, he has to admit the experience wasn’t all he’d hoped it would be. Sure, the weather was perfect, the climb exhilarating and the team distinguished, but Dr. Robert Lampard wanted more: to stake the claim for his Alberta hero and the mountain’s namesake, James Wheeler Davidson. <snip-snip>.”

Bob & Doug were identical twins. For three years at LTCHS we were so seated in the classes we took together. I’ll never forget them. Always being seated #3. Esp. I remember how different they were. The subject of twins still holds me fast. In the photo above Bob’s ~65, his son Geoffrey ~19. I talked with Bob this morning. It was a wonderful experience but the more this happens the more the time order of my memory is disturbed. I ask Bob if he remembered Carol Minchin. He said he did. I’d think a lot of LTCHS remember her. He said “Wasn’t she from Sylvan Lake?”. This stuff is on the web if you take the time but if my memory serves there were the City Kids like the Lampards, Kids like myself who lived within biking distance and a more remote bunch like Carol who were bused into Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School from homes as distance as the Penhold Airbase or Sylvan Lake. 20-30 miles.
