Because it was suggested that age has killed my vanity.
Pshaw, I still practice the sin of pride as much as ever, DIY. Do I look older than I did 10 years ago? Yes. The question is, do I look better/younger than the vast majority of 37 year olds?

Self satisfied… depends on how you look at it as I am ever and always pushing myself further and questioning what I need to work on.
On being a smart cookie, yes I am aware that with a few different choices my life could have been on the surface “easier”. For mental and spiritual health purposes, I find hard work to be a far better arrangement than one that lessened me. Work strengthens, compromise of values weakens. I loathe weak people, truly. We all make choices and our lives are for the most part a product of those choices. I sleep well at night, yes. But am driven come the morn'.
DIY'er - Elizabeth don't need no help in this debate but it is all in Goethe's Faust
The deal with the devil is that he wins and god loses if the devil can satisfy Dr. Faust - lie in a bed of sloth - you can google it in german or english - the point for me of admiration of die Liz is that she has the divine discontent of the good doctor - and so by the way do all the best - who walk this earth and chart the stars -
Pride may be one of the seven deadlies, but I just don't see the Faustian bargain here. Liz has worked her cute lil butt off to get where you see… I think she can whup that smelly ol' devil!
Chris comes from a family of the lower classes that came up in the 70's and 80's. Erstwhile mine was on a fast descent and oddly we found recognition in one another, having no class of our own. hahahahaha Yes, I even laugh at my own jokes.
Were I ever content I'd not be driven to always do better, agreed. But I *am* happy and do believe that all things work out. “It's all good.” It just happens that my drive is part of all things, fate, if you will. I didnt make myself, after all.

Me first.
You look wonderful for any age.
As for the vast majority of 37 years olds - let them be.

I think we'd both be mistaken for a much younger age. A lot of people are shocked to hear I'm 31.

Oh I let them be alright and so do they, apparently!
Thank you. *curtsies*

Yep, you look pretty satisfied with yourself.
The thing that blows my mind is the sheer quantity of hard work you have done to get where you are. You're a smart cookie, too.

Happy to not have a particle of Machiavellian or Faustian impulse. Or maybe JUST a particle.
Thank you.

That's right. None of us made ourselves.
We are thrown or cast into our life.

Once I married for both - that is about the best - alas paradise bores.

THAT'S TRUE but somehow it still ends up being up to us whether we give it that extra effort.

I know that and more important I would think so does Chris.
